As April 14th, 2021 the Coney Island amusement area, Luna Park is open for the summer season. The park was closed for over one year due to Covid pandemic. It is a much welcome sign that things are getting better in the New York Metro area. Everyone has been shut up in their apartments for many months and they need somewhere to go and have fun with their family. Last weekend there were long lineups to buy tickets to get into the amusement area where the rides were.

To go down to the beach on a hot summer day is
the best way to cool off from the sun…

I understand that the legendary Mermaid Parade will occur this year. It did not happen in 2020 and everyone missed it. Also later in the summer there is the sand castle Building Contest that draws a lot of attention. We expect the beaches to be very popular this year when they open on Memorial Day in May.

One new attraction on the boardwalk is the NY Aquarium installation of the large octopus tentacles that are looming over the main wall by the entrance. This is a very festive display and is attracting much attention. There were many musicians and street performers out on the boardwalk as people strolled by enjoying the sea air.

The aquarium’s new octopus installation is very dramatic!
